Congratulations to Aerolineas Argentinas who according to a source familiar with the airline's finances said that the airline is expected to post its first monthly profit in twenty five years.

Aerolineas Argentinas Chairman Antonio Mata told an assembly of creditors that in July and August 2002, the airline posted a net profit. The airline was facing closure due to debts and Argentina's economic problems.

40% of revenue is from international flights and with prices in US Dollars, is most helpful considering Argentina's economic and currency situation. Domestic market share is now 75%, up from 17% a year ago.

Even in today's corporate culture I would expect a chairman to be ''a source familar with (his) airline's finances'' Smile

Congratulations to Aerolineas if they do indeed post a profit this month, I do hope they regain their glory.
