The airport (MMMX) was suddenly closed for some reason that night, presumably while flights both were enroute. Guess they sat it out in SAT and departed once MMMX was reopened...

MEX was closed as well as MTY a big storm covering all regions of Mexico has brought a lot of hassle to air travel in the past two days ......rgds

As delta_fan said, MEX was closed down until 00.45 hours of this Wednesday. According to reforma web site more than 200 flights were affected. Among others, KLM diverted to GDL and Lufthansa to ACA, some united flights to ACA, PVER, Veracruz, etc.

Benito Juarez International Airport was closed because a heavy storm in Mexico City. Only a normal procedures when an airport is closed.
