Hi,
I just was looking through a schedule of LHR since I will be there next friday.
After checking through all flights I noticed that there was no flight of Virgin Atlantics A340-600. It only showed either the 744 or A343 but no A346.
Does VS not use them in a regular way yet? Do they just deploy them on a flight where they think it could be used well at the moment?

Unless anyone has any definite info here, I would advise either somehow contacting Virgin Atlantic themselves, or the Spectator's Terrace shop at Heathrow-they may have some info.

I know that VS has been taking bookings on the 346-operated flights as if they would be operated with a 343. It appears that Airbus and VS are expecting higher-than-normal fleet introduction problems with the 346. That's why I doubt anyone would be able to find out definitively what aircraft VS would use on a specific flight. I guess you will just have to try your luck.

Max,
try this link http://www.lhr-lgw.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/heathrow/lhrmainindex.html and you can check to see if there is a pattern to its operation.
Cheers,Alex

I was there the 5th and the 6th of September. Both days, the A346 didn't fly. On Thursday, he was parked somewhere, and on Friday, they towed him with a truck to another parking position.
I missed my first chance to see him landing at Hatton Cross

The 346 is timetables to operated LHR-JFK as VS9, but only on a Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday until 03 October. All other days is a 744, and from 08 October, the service reverts back to a 343.
The 346 then disappears from JFK until 16 November when it returns as VS1 on a Monday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday, and then thats into EWR.
346 services to HKG are timetabled to start on 17 October, and services to NRT are timetables to start on 15 October.

The 346 has been running JFK-LHR flights for the past couple weeks.
