I just heard that the new low-cost airline German Wings sold 30.000 tickets since last Friday. Some flights during the X-mas days are already booked out. Not bad in my opinion!

No surprise with these prices imho. Too bad they only offer it from CGN.

Germanwings is the first airline on the German LC-market that offers it's potencial customers flights that really are lowcost or "günstig"  Wink/being sarcastic since they fly to the major airports and not like Ryanair from "middle of nowhere" to "middle of nowhere".
I will never take Ryanair for a short trip as I have already booked on Germanwings for example I'll go to Madrid (with SN332) and also to Rome with a few people.
So Germanwings is the first airline to offer "real airline" flights for really cheap.

You guys are correct, German Wings offers really cheap fares and the biggest advantage is that they do not fly to/from airports in the middle of nowhere. My first flight with German Wings will be on November, 9 to BCN and of course I will post a trip report. I am wondering if there will be a price war when Hapag Lloyd Express and Virgin Express also start operations from CGN and an other big question is: Will all these low fare airlines survive at CGN and will they operate profitable?

Sorry a bit off topic, but when does HF Express start their services and when does their website go online (with information, prices, ...)

Is there any more information out on TUI's "Hapag Lloyd Express"?
All I know is that it is supposed to be a joint venture with Germania (probably using 73G).

After so many years where CGN has always lost market share it is probably the time when they gain it again... This will be our Stanstead, just not so far out  Big thumbs up

I heard that HF Express will operate from November but the guy who told me that did not know the exact date. I think that they start as soon as possible but I am also wondering that the website is not online already. Of course I will check them out too as well as Virgin Express.
