Lufthansa annouced that they would start their broadband internet connection onboard thier FRA-IAD flight in January 2003. The service will be free for testing for a period of three months. Mid 2004 the entire long-haul fleet (about 80 planes, B744, A340, A330) should be fitted with the internet connection (about 5 MBits per plane)

I think this is awsome, especially that Lufthansa is the first airline to introduce this service as they havn't been known to be the best entertainers during flight...
But I do not know if this will really work that good. It could end up like with the phones that many (maybe all?) have taken out of the seats again as nobody is willing to pay the price for the connection and the internet for sure won't be cheap after they start to charge the customers in March.
