This article from the Philadelphia Inquirer provides a little more information about what happened on Delta Flight 442 last month. That was the ATL-PHL flight where the Air Marshals pointed guns at the coach passengers.

Okay, maybe that was a dumb question. But someone needs to take control of these air marshalls and teach them to act with some restraint and respond only to real terrorist threats, not hold an entire plane of passengers hostage because one dimwit can't behave himself, and they don't like the way he looks.

Those Air marshals should be sanctioned, power trips on an aircraft are not welcomed. It's a pitty that the paranoia have reached such a high level in the United States, like one guy said in the article "In our haste to protect ourselves, we are literally turning on each other".

Having been on the receiving end of very similar treatment from a certain US Government agency and having received the exact same "We don't like the way you look" line while being shoved into an equivalent cell, I have no doubt about Dr. Rajcoomar's version of the story. Sadly, he will find that he has absolutely no recourse against the agency. All is kosher in the interest of national security. If he doesn't like it, he needs to stay home or move somewhere that civil rights are truly respected.

I am no expert when it comes to US aviation and safety policies but , " We don't like the way you look" is no reason for whisking someone away. Obviously national security will come first for any country but this incident does not seem to have anything to do with national security , the person causing the problem had already been detained , there is absolutely no reason to point a gun at the remaining passengers just because they are making noise, its a free country for heaven's sake , leave alone detain someone after you go and dump a rowdy passenger next to him . It is pretty natural for any human to panic , after seeing a guy in an aircraft being taken away. This is not security , this is discrimination , I will not call it racial because from what I can make of the posts in this forum everybody is at the recieving end .
There need to be clear cut definition of as to where the marshalls come in to the picture . If a passenger is drunk and making a scene of himself it should be the flight attendants taking care of him like always , not the air marshalls. All crews are trained to handle rowdy passengers , being shot dead for being drunk is not my definition of justice.
If somebody trys to barge into the cockpit or or threaten someone then its the marshalls game .Their instructions should be the final authority in that case , however they should act if and only if the crew requests for it. Come on guys there are a lot of crew members on this forum , they can probably help me out here , every single one of them would have definitely encountered some rowdy passenger at some point in their careers .
Marshalls going on a power trip is simply a no no.

O'Sonofabitchladen and Sodam are probably rolling in stitches over this incident. It is extremly sad, but not surprising to see the level of paranoia that has overtaken not only the U.S. but other countries the world over. Do not be so naive as to think the governments of the world won't capitalize on these events to instill that level of control on our lives... The likes which have never been seen since Nazi Germany.
The free world has just been put up on the auction block, my friends... And the bids are rising fast.
