American Airlines will launch daily, non-stop service between Miami and Las Vegas, Nevada. The daily 757-200 service will start on 3 March 2003. American Airlines becomes the third carrier in an already crowded market that is currently at three daily flights (+ a daily from FLL). In November, National Airlines adds a third daily MIA-LAS; in December America West adds a second daily MIA-LAS; and in March AA will also have MIA-LAS service for six daily flights, plus America West to FLL and National to PBI.

Perhaps AA is thinking they will have an edge in the LAS-MIA market given the Latin American/Caribbean connections at their Miami hub. Then again, is the LAS-Caribbean/Latin American market large enough to make the flight profitable?

Trvlr, the real edge is all the AA FF'ers living in Miami. The LatAm/Carib connections represent only minimal of the traffic, which will very likely be heavily O&D with some connections on Eagle. It is no secret that leisure markets will be hot in 2003, especially with business travel off. Luckily, MIA will be immune to AA's cuts. This is AA's 5th new MIA destination announced in nine months, the second one announced today (well, MIA-CLT and MIA-LAS have not been announced, but are in the scheds). MIA also has the advantage that it offers a good mix of business and leisure traffic, and also has "business traffic" on otherwise leisure destinations, such as San Jose (CR), Rio de Janeiro, Port of Spain, Bridgetown, etc.

GREAT!!!! Now, the AA customers will have goes on with the nonstop from MIA-LAS flight from connecting by Latin American, Caribbean, and South America as for itself. This is such wonderful to hear as for American Airlines by waiting for the long time.

Also, there is do have only nonstop from FLL-LAS by America West by 1 daily roundtrip and MIA will be increase by the second daily nonstop to LAS flight too. Soon, PBI will be started service by the new nonstop by first-time to LAS flight on National Airlines. I such do hear about with the news on the internet as for myself. Well, goodnight!

Just checked aa.com and all MIA-LAS flights go thru STL,DFW or ORD. Must not have it in the computer yet.Pretty out of the way-up to ORD then back down to LAS  Smile

The hub is growing and that is good to see. Also AA will add a second non stop to DTW and a third to YYZ.Before long MIA will overtake STL as the number 3 hub for AA.
