American Airlines will launch seven all-new routes this winter. The new services are not an expansion, but a reallocation of equipment to markets with more profit potnetial.

Starts 1 November 2002:
Miami-Punta Cana, daily

Starts 15 December 2002:
Miami-Charlotte, daily
Raleigh-San Juan, daily
Boston-Las Vegas, execept Tuesday

Starts 16 December 2002:
JFK-La Romana, DR, Saturdays
JFK-San Jose, Costa Rica, Mondays and Saturdays

Starts 21 December 2002:
LaGuardia-Ft. Meyers, Saturdays

Starts 3 March 2003:
Raleigh-San Jose; daily
Miami-Las Vegas; daily

American will also increase capacity on the following markets on 15 December:

JFK to Providenciales +3 weekly; total 6
JFK to Punta Cana +1 weekly; total 5
JFK to Saint Thomas +6 weeklies; total 13
JFK to Saint Maarten +4 weeklies; total 11

Miami to Santiago, DR +7 weekly; total 14

Miami to Toronto +1 weekly; total 15

The announcements are reaffirming AA's commitment to ongoing expansion in both South Florida and New York City at the unfortunate expense of other service reductions.

Oh yeah, and Boston-Cancun weekend service starts 1 February. Still to early to early to tell, but rumours have it too possibly look for any combination of Miami-St. Kitts & Nevis, Liberia, Minneapolis, Pittsburgh, San Jose, and/or Kansas City. AA is going to be focusing alot on leisure markets in 2003. All of these new routes except MIA-CLT and RDU-SJC are pure leisure routes.

What equipment is AA planning to use on the RDU-SJU route, I guess they will be using the 738. I dont really see potential for this route but the AA managers know more than I do on this matter. US Airways does well on the CLT-SJU route because CLT is a hub for US and most pax originate in other cities and Charlotte is a much bigger city.
By the way is AA keeping its 2 daily STL-SJU flights?

I forgot to mention that this RDU-SJU flight has been operated before back when AA had a much bigger operation at Raleigh, I thinkk that the flight at one point was operated with a DC-10.

I really dont have information on how the STL-SJU route is doing, but back when TWA operated the route the airline was happy with how the route was doing. Most pax on the route originate in the West Coast or some other midwestern city, whcih sort of creates a conflict for the DFW-SJU route which is suppose to serve that purpose.

ScottysAir,

Frontier has been looking into many destinations and the CEO of Frontier has been asked several times about future destinations and they simply cannot comment. So we will find out when they announce it.

All I know is PHL has been looked at in the past by Frontier. I hope they serve it one day, they possibly will.

But I wouldn't look at it too incredibly soon as currently Frontier is focusing on leisure markets. You will see new leisure destinations and expanded Mexico service for the time being.

Regards

I do exactly was way remembered that one as for before of last year of 2001. After that Midway Airlines is out of business again now. Oh well!  Sad

BA,

I surely that will hope chance as for nonstop from PHL-DEN flight as for near of the future. I do already know how is they were doing well at my FLL airport as for nonstop to DEN by double daily roundtrip for Frontier. It is at the terminal 3 by near of UA ticket counter. I did actually were went visits at the FLL airport to see my friends there. So hope this is your helps. Thanks, BA!!

i think we will see Frontier in PHL within a year
as for AA flying from PHL-DEN, they do not, but they said that if the UA/US merger went through that they would, since UA would have a monopoly on the route.

Here they grow again...

A third daily Miami-Bogota will be added. A daily 767-300ER. It will operate, however, only 15Dec02 through 30Jan03. Would not be surprised to see it become permanent, however.

Uh-Oh!! Here it go another grow more with the flight by MIA-BOG the third flight been added nonstop. I was not too surprised as for me with the AA keep stepped up with the more flight by MIA hub. Well, later!

25 AA-STL : For some reason they had it on AA.com thats the reason why I was wondering and yes it was Non-stop
26 Sjc>sfo : SJC-RDU surprises me in some ways, because it was a miserable failure for Midway, but doesn't in others. AA has the advantage of a stronger FF followi
27 Afitch7881 : BA- Off topic a little, but is Hartford being considered for future Frontier growth? I know PVD was being considered for a Boston reliever, but is BDL
28 Phatfarmlines : Is history repeating itself for AA @ RDU? I wonder what strategy AA will use on RDU-SJU and RDU-SJC, both failed routes for JI.
29 MIA777 : All this expansion at MIA -- great news! However I would like to see a little more equipment diversity (rather than the same old AA 757 and MD80) thou
30 MAH4546 : I would like to see a little more equipment diversity (rather than the same old AA 757 and MD80) Diversity? We get plenty of equipment diversity at MI
