BA scoops seven Business Traveller awards
British Airways swept the boards at the Business Traveller Awards yesterday(Wednesday) winning seven titles including Best Airline and the coveted Best Business Class category.
BA 'prized' back the Business Class award from Virgin Atlantic which has won the title for the last five years running.
BA also won Best First Class, Best Shorthaul Flights, Best Frequent Flier Programme, Best Cabin Staff and Most Innovative Airline awards.
And in what is believed to be the first major award recognising this sector, oneworld - of which BA is a member - was named the world's Best Airline Alliance.
"Heartening news" in tough year
After the award ceremony at the London Hilton, BA's Chief Executive Rod Eddington said: "In a tough year for the industry, it's particularly heartening for us that our staff have been able to continue to deliver excellent service which has been recognised in this way.
"Winning seven awards means a great deal to British Airways, particularly as we have been voted for by our most frequent travellers."
He added: "I'm particularly proud to have won the award for best business class travel which is recognition of our revolutionary Club World flat bed which has set the standard for the industry and has been a huge success with our customers."
"BA lead the way"
Nick Perry, Managing Director of Business Traveller said: "It is clear that business travellers appreciate the innovations presented by BA. Having led the way, they are challenging the rest of the industry to match their products."
Other winners in this year's awards were Go who won the Best Low Cost Airline award and Singapore's Changi Airport which won the Best Airport in the World award.
London's Heathrow Airport came fifth.
The annual poll conducted by Business Traveller magazine - the world' leading business travel magazine, is the only travel survey conducted by a UK-based publication which is independent and complies with the rules laid out by the Market Research Society. This year's poll was carried out in July.

Congratulations to BA and their employees. I was once beguiled by VS, but am now firmly back with Speedbird for my trips across the pond. BTW, I entered the new BA/James Bond 007 contest. Does anyone know if BA is featured in the upcoming (November 22 in USA) Bond film?
