AI319 KIX/HKG/DEL/BOM had a engine problem 20 mins after take off from HKG. The Airbus 310-300 returned to HKG shortly with a hard landing and burst tyre(s).
My friend said AI didn't have money to replace the tyre(s).. I don't know he's joking or not and now it's at the maintenance area repairing the engine.

Who is AI and why is a A310-300 returning when an A319 had an engine problem?

AI 319 operating KIX-HKG-DEL-BOM indeed did return to HKG with an engine problem around 1830 local time on September 28. The flight was being operated by an A310. No word yet on the exact cause of the problem or how long the aircraft will be stranded in HKG.
AI has done a bunch of stuff with HAECO in the past, so I have no doubt of their ability to get things fixed pretty quickly and get the aircraft back to India. The stuff about no money for tires is obviously a joke!

Obviously AI319 is a flight number. As my friend mentioned, it's an engine cowling cover problem ( i don't know how the cover has a problem??? it might be unlocked and opened after take off?? that sounds scary!!)

Why would Air-India not be able to afford new tires? I don't even get it as a joke, they're a big state-owned airline, how could they go bust? Oh right, Sabena and Swissair. Actually Air-India are really good, they offer a great service across the Atlantic at easyJet prices.
fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz

I can tell you that AI owe the HKG ground handling company fees.... the previous ground handling company dumped AI and the other company handled AI for 2 years. we do the services but we don't get any money from them not until few years later..... finally AI will go back to the first ground handling company again and I'm sure AI needs to pay back for the debt! so it's possible to have no money to replace tires.
