According to Swiss newspaper Tagesanzeiger, Air Switzerland has fired all its 58 employees. It seems that this is the end. This actually does not surprise at all. The question remains where was that money coming from, which was already spent.

Air Switzerland is a shame for the civil aviation in Switzerland. They had such plans and nothing remains. The CEO of Air Switzerland is just a dreamer, nothing else.

I don't know what you mean with shame. I don't know the figures of money invested and I don't know anything about the reason why they didn't get any approval from the FOCA. I don't think it is wrong to start up an airline and provide jobs to people as long as you are calculating everything correct and know what you want. I don't think that Mario Ritter was just a dreamer, many people could have been considered as dreamer but the outcome was something totally different.

Very sad to see 58 people loosing their job again but the risk was well known (no doubt about this).

Swissgabe:
it's stupid to create an airline and you are saying you will fly with at least 2 Airbus A340 airplanes around the world. Mario Ritter said several times that he was in talks with Las Vegas airport - but this is not true. He promised several long haul connections without having contracts with travel agencies and groups in Switzerland. He is really a dreamer... Maybe the idea of Air Switzerland Europe was smart.. but the management is also for nothing.. they even had no all documents for the FOCA. And look at the stupid livery from Air Switzerland.. it's more an airline from Fürstentum Liechtenstein. It's a joke. And I never believed in this airline and I can't understand people who were looking for a job for Air Switzerland (not the former Swisswings employers)
sorry for this hard words.. but come on.. the idea of Air Switzerland was always nothing more than a joke. They gave us never real details - only wishes.

Within the Swiss Travel trade it has been mentioned that Mario Ritters family has many travel agents around the world (located mainly in the destinations intended) so the thing with the contact of the 50% targeted incoming pax would have been not that hard. I already claimed earlier (also in here in other discussions) that it was always strange to me that he never mentioned any Swiss TO names.
To be honest, my self I have already seen Air Switzerland A340 flying out of ZRH but I wouldn't have given them more than a few month, at least there was a Do328 around ZRH.
I was also quite skeptical on this matter but I don't blame it just as a stupid thing. I'm pretty sure there have been people around blaming Branson with Virgin, Ryanair or EasyJet as stupid idea which never could work.

you're right with your point of view. I also saw a Dornier 328 at Zürich airport. But for me the whole plan about to launch Air Switzerland was not professional enough. Also the travel agency of Mario Ritter is not a real professional travel agency according to Travel Inside magazine. Mario Ritter itself was never saying something.. he promised only and what's happen now?

I just received a very interesting mail from Thomas (from Basel) which you also received . The whole Mario Ritter group is a joke - the whole plan for building up his airline is also a joke.

for all others: Air Switzerland will never fly.. this is a joke company - as I already said it is a shame that this 22 year old CEO said all the time. Nothing is true of them.

Txs Swiss-airplane and thanks as well to the Email from Thomas Jaeger.

I just would like to mention that most informations I had/have regarding investment and plans I have took from Swiss Travel Trade Magazines "Travel Trade" and "Schweizer Touristik" earlier and now they are going to write something totally different than a few month ago.

Hi guys,
first of all I'm from Chur, not from Basle, but this doesn't matter at all as Switzerland is like a big city anyway  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

I wouldn't say it's a joke company as they already employed more than 50 people but more or less everything they told the media and their employees was just not true. "Schweizer Touristik" is certainly not one of the best travel magazines in the world, once a journalist of this magazine came to a press conference of SkyEurope and meant the airline would come from England because of its English name  Smile/happy/getting dizzy I also read several of their "exclusive stories" on Air Switzerland and I have to say, they just didn't care if anything was true what they told them.

Best regards
Thomas

Fully agree on your comment regarding Schweizer Touristik, most of people within the Swiss Travel Trade prefer anyway "Travel Inside".

to Thomas Jaegger:

sorry Thomas.. I also someone from Basel with the name Thomas and he is also an user from airliners.net.. I thought it's him. sorry again  Smile/happy/getting dizzy) Basel and Chur is really not the same  Smile/happy/getting dizzy)

to Swissgabe and Thomas Jaegger: I still think it's a shame what Mario Ritter told to all of us and of course also for the employers. But I really have to say... I never believed in this airline and I never would of taken, nor will I ever take a job at Air Switzerland as long they are not flying!

First of all I think "shame" is the wrong word. He is not more than a cheap liar and that's it.
Regarding the jobs, well, if I would have lost my Job with Swissair or Swisswings and someone offers me a new one with similar condition (not even same salaries) I would have said yes as well.

Just to mention that Air Switzerland denied that the fired 58 employees, "only" 47 lost the job and plans for long-haul flights are still open.

HI Guys,
I know from a very reliable source that Air Switzerland is trying to make Sharjah as the Hub. The cost in Z??rich is very high so Ritter decided to make Sharjah the Hub. Mario Ritter is an idi** ( Biz view) coz employing so many people, before even having raised the money he needed to show to the Bundesamt f??r Luftverkehr to get the license.
I met him once personally and found that he is a very interesting Entrepreneur with lots of visions. Lets hope his visions comes true.

Viki

PS: Any one interested in booking tickets with my travel agency pls contact me under info@divided4.ch. My agency is in Zürich City.

I also spoke to him once and after this call and after my research on his and his company's background I think it's rather impossible Air Switzerland will ever take off.

However, it would be funny to see a Sharjah based carrier called Air Switzerland with a so called CEO from Liechtenstein and a so called management from Switzerland and a livery that looks like the flag of Liechtenstein.  Smile/happy/getting dizzy

BTW, I really would like to know more about their business plan. A normal start-up would have a serious business plan and the money to put it into action before telling the media about their plans.

Air Switzerland changed their business plan thrice:
First they wanted to be a longhaul scheduled charter (?) airline (BTW, without any travel agency marketing the flights) and start operations with 2 A340-300s out of Zurich.

Than they decided to buy Swisswings which had ceased operations and was under receivership. Swisswings was a regional carrier operating five Do328s out of Berne and Geneva, they decided to take over the operations in Berne because they thought they would be able to operate profitable with three Do328s from there.

Than they announced they would base one Do328 at ZRH to fly to Marseille from there and from Berne to London City and Brussels.

Now, they say operations out of Berne could not be probitable, kicked out all ex-Swisswings employees and told the media they would concentrate on ZRH and operate the three Do328s and two A340-300s out of ZRH. Why did they kick out all ex-Swisswings employees, if they want to operate the Do328s out of ZRH. This just makes no sense as well as everything else they already published.

If they will ever start-up it will be like at for example Delsey or BerlinJet, just a cash burning machine.

HI Thomas
I agree with your statements above. I also cant believe that this will work out. I have one Exective Summary ( February 02) of them but thats it what i have. I never had any good impression from the begining.
Every one was saying Mario is a wisekid... mm lets see what he will do or his attorneys..
One good souvenir I have got from him, the Model A340's painted in their color.

Swissgabe: I still think joke company is the right word for Air Switzerland. Mario Ritter is a dreamer and his ideas were not that bad. But he did everything wrong and nobody belives him anymore and so the whole Air Switzerland became a joke company. Nobody from the travel industrie (Kuoni, Hotelplan etc) gave him ever a real chance. This says enough.

Thomas: Thank's for your information. Great information as always.

greets
