may i ask, how many planes is CO getting for 2002 and more importantly 2003 ? Also, is CO planning for any more expansion besides the 2 south american routes from ewr?

CO originally planned to receive 48 aircraft this year. However, for reasons I'm sure almost everyone on this forum are well aware of, 28 of these deliveries have been postponed until sometime between August of 2003 and the end of 2005 ... If not later.

Continental did take delivery of some new planes this year, including 2 brand new Boeing 777's (Ships #17 and 18) and a few 767-400's and some narrow bodies (737-800/900 and one 757-300) but most deliveries have now been deferred to 2003 or beyond because of the industry's current crisis and the soft demand for air travel.

Continental will ground an additional 11 MD80 aircraft by year-end and we could start seeing more 737-300's leave the fleet, particularly, the leased 3T0's.
