I was recently in Bangkok and saw the tail of a B737 sticking out of a hangar. The plane was obviously being worked on and it looked like it was once a US Airways colour scheme. Anyone know anything?

It looks like an ex-Metrojet aircraft with the red fuselage and black tail. Titles are blanked out, and it had a patch over the reg which looked like a XX-XXX type registration. My guess is that it is going to someone in Thailand or Indonesia.

I am flying to BKK in a few hours and perhaps I can get a closer look and more info!

can you see the engines, bc all metrojet aircraft were 732's with the long engines on the wings

then its a Metrojet, because no US Air 732's were repainted to the new US Airways colors.

Thanks KC,

Next question is, do you know the identity of the one in the hangar by Rwy21L in BKK? I can't read the reg off, as it is small, and normally I am hurtling down the runway at the time, which doesn't help!

Back from BKK and I can now report that there are two ex-Metrojet 737s on the Military apron side. The one with the white patch and the new registration was still in the hangar and has large white titles on the side. I don't recall seeing titles on it before, so I guess they are new titles. The aircraft is still in basic Metrojet colours.

The other aircraft is also in basic colours with no titles, but US air logo on the rudder still. This aircraft is parked facing the runway with a normal black reg painted on the red. No big white patch. I can only assume that it is still N-registered.

Anyone with more details?

The first aircraft is ex-Metrojet N284AU, now HS-VKK.

The next one to go will be ex-N282AU, but I don't know what the new registration will be. Perhaps HS-VKL?
