My mom has tickets for my brother, her, and I to go to Italy next summer. We will fly Delta from ATL to FCO and then back from MXP. When we booked the tickets, MXP-ATL, DL flight 75, was scheduled as a 763. It is now scheduled as a 777. Is this a mistake? Does this mean that Alitalia will be flying the route, or is one of DL's 777s operating this route? It still has a flight number like it is a DL aircraft (codeshares are really high numbers, i.e. 8670). How long is the time in the air on this flight? The flight is scheduled as 11 hours 10 minutes. I know that takes into acount taxi time, etc., but it does seem a bit long anyway for a 4700 mile flight. I don't mind the time; in fact the longer the better, but that seems really long. How many DL 777s will be in the 3-3-3 configuration by then? I flew a DL 777 from CDG to ATL this June and it was 3-3-3, which was nice, but I'd like to experience 2-5-2 on a DL 777. Here is a link to the flight on Delta.com if you want to check it out for yourself:

I am sorry. I forgot to say when this is for. I won't be flying this flight until July 2003, so this is for then.

Yes, at the moment it looks like it's going to get the 777 next summer. Remember that the official summer 2003 schedule won't be released for awhile and a lot can change between now and then.

It's a new day. Every moment matters. Now, more than ever.

The thing is that in order for my mom to be able to afford the trip, we needed to get tickets with her frequent flyer miles. We knew that FF seats to Italy sold out fast, so the first day that we could get them (331 days in advance) we got them. I'm glad we did. Our original plan was to fly into MXP and out of FCO. The FF seats on one of those segments were ALREADY sold out, so we just reversed. This was no problem because nothing else was planned, but it just goes to show how fast DL's (and probably other carrier's) FF seats to Italy sell out.

Thank you for all of your replies! Do you know when this switch takes place? Will they definitely be DL 777s? How many will be in the 3-3-3 by then? Thanks!

Thank you so much! Is Delta getting more 777s, or just pulling some off of domestic routes? Those are a lot of flights with 777s. Also, what about the 11 hour 10 minute scheduled flight time from MXP to ATL?
