Honestly I cannot remember how many gates CID had. When I was there, in 1996, they were completing the expansion. Must of been 6 or so jetway equipped gates and a handful of ground level commuter gates. At the time TWA had gate for its DC9s and ATRs, NWA had one for its DC9s and ARJs (at least I think they were operating ARJs at that point), UA had one... maybe two. They had 737s and BAe 146s to DEN and I am pretty sure the same mix to ORD. AA at that time was most likely Saabs and ATRs to Chicago, Delta was strictly Comair to CVG with CRJs. I don't recall if they used a jetway... I don't even think a CRJ was there when I was in the airport. And USAir Express (Air Midwest) flew Beech 1900s to MCI. Plus Chicago Express flew J31s to MDW.
Seems like the right number of gates.
