Delta Air Lines scored a major victory Friday when a key vote to unionize the
airline's 10,800 ramp and cargo workers failed to receive sufficient support. Only 1,868 workers voted for representation by the Transport Workers Union, according to ballots mailed into the National Mediation Board and counted Friday. At least half the workers would have had to mail in ballots for the union drive to succeed.

This is good news. I don't want to offend any unionized airline workers out there, but I feel unions have the potential to drive airlines out of business. I think unions are harmful, both to airlines and the U.S. economy at large. There was a place for them in the past, but today's competitive environment requires carriers to operate unencumbered by unions.
