Talk about a narrow range.
Phoenix and SFO are only 10% apart, which is maybe a difference of 1 flight per day. In other words, you stand about an 80% chance of having your flight land on time, regardless of where you fly.

Spark-

I don't understand what you mean.....
10% range means 10% more of all the flights will be delayed. SFO moves I think 40/hour @ peak. 40*10% = 4. That is 4 planes MORE an hour that will be delayed.

Times 24 hours = 96 more delays PER DAY. So round down to 65 or so as they are not always @ peak levels.

65 more flights A DAY will go out of SFO late comapred to Phoneix. That is quite a huge difference if you ask me. Sixty Five planes full of ~150 people = almost 10,000 people more delayed EVERY DAY than PHX.......

Someday those poor kids @ SFO will get new runways, until then...............

I am kind of surprised LGA and EWR are not in the top 5 worst airports for ontime performance. I always thought they were worse in this catagory then JFK.

It's nice to see CLT tied for 1st for the best airports for ontime performace. I guess the fact reflects upon the massive drought in the area and all the dry and sunny days we have had.

Interesting news. I wonder why USAToday doesn't report the Chronicaly Delayed flights?

Those are interesting too:

http://www.bts.gov/oai/unusually_late_flights/

Cutting to the Chase:

1)DL 1992 ATL-JFK
2)WN 42 HOU-DAL
3)WN 486 BWI-SDF
4)WN 70 HOU-DAL
5)WN 2094 BWI-ALB
6)WN 2336 MDW-DTW

Could someone explain these stats to me. Other that the DL flight not one of the other flights flies to a congested airport? How does WN keep a great reputation for on-time?

Looks to me like those WN flights are all at the end of a hoppity-hop journey from somewhere else, and they are also probably scheduled at the end of the day... thus no replacement aircraft is available.

And also might I add that WN doesn't fly to any of those "least punctual" airports... except for SEA.

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!
