Yep, Sir Richard admits that not starting a UK low-cost carrier was one of the biggest mistakes of his career (I presume one of the few....)

Article from that most interesting and riveting read, The Independent, aka (in some quarters) The Indescribablyboring  Big grin

Welll, duh! Why oh why did he go to Belgium to start up a low cost airline, way back when Easyjet and Ryanair were nothing but glimpses on the horizon of no frills travel, when debonair (RIP) and Air UK (RIP) were the first reluctant steps into low-fares? Back then, Virgin was a great brand in the UK, in Belgium, who's heard of Virgin?

Regards

Ikarus

From that article:

"Hopefully Virgin will get permission to set up in the US and therefore feed on people we fly to New York.

How about a deal with Jetblue? Surely a compatible brand - young, fresh, high quality, friendly (and even PTVs  Big grin )

Perhaps Virgin Media Spin will be his next start up?
