I just stunned found JP website from Joe Pries photo. Here it is:

When did Qantas 707 serve JFK from where LAX or SFO? I never thought about that flew to JFK long time ago. As far I know today still service LAX-JFK 747-400.

Thanks,

Big777jet

Judging by the new control tower in the background, it has to be a relatively recent photo.

I think that may be John Travolta's plane that he took on tour this summer.

I agree, it's a great photo - especially with the old TWA terminal in the background. The fact that it's a night photo with a wet ramp makes it even better!!!

Take care.

Yes QANTAS flew to JFK with 707-338Cs back in the late 60s-1971/2.

Qantas still DO fly to JFK - three times a week, QF 107 as a continuation from LAX.

That's John Travolta's 707, the picture was taken during his visit to JFK recently, the picture appears in this months issue of Airliners magazine. I think Qantas did fly into JFK a long time ago, then they stopped and replaced the service with an American Airlines code share, before resuming their own flights.

QF to NY started 1958 with Constellations, continued with 707-138s.

Qantas flew RTW service with Constellations, 707s and 747s (barely). As well as the above route (SYD-NAN-HNL-SFO-JFK-LHR and on to Sydney via the Kangaroo route which included stops in cities like Geneva, Belgrade, Karachi et al), they also flew to London via Nadi, Acapulco, Mexico City, Nassau and Bermuda (then on to Sydney via the Kangaroo route again). What an airline. Mexico City to London on a Qantas 707 via Nassau and Bermuda? Now THAT'S exotic.

fly Saha Air 707s daily from Tehran's downtown Mehrabad to Mashhad, Kish Island and Ahwaz
