AFAIK, these should be charter flights but I cannot comfirm that and it is not in ANZ's schedules. I do not have the time now but u can try to check http://www.oag.com and see if it is there, if not then it is not a scheduel flight.

These flights are the RNZAF Hercules, which is in the area for rescue missions for the Bali bomb victims - would assume it's repatriating citizens of KUL and MLE.

NZ203-204 is the CHC-BNE-CHC flight if I remember correctly.

As a matter of interest did Air NZ ever fly to KUL? In the mid to late 90's there was a flight NZ3822 or something going AKL-SYD-KUL I believe. Was this a codeshare flight on the SYD-KUL leg with MH?

NZ started a weekly Auckland-Singapore-Kuala Lumpur service on February 11 1990 using a B767-200ER. The services ceased in November 1993.

NZ3822 was actually a code-share flight with Ansett Australia.

NZ, LH and AN (used to) piggy back onto SQ as code shared flights into Kuala Lumpur. Part of the Star Alliance thing.

Did those services to KUL ever operate more than 1 weekly? Why was it stopped not profitable?

I spose that makes sence that NZ3822 was operated by Ansett Australia since they flew there around that time. NZ flew to Seoul with their own aircraft at that time aswell but they also had a code share flight with AN via SYD aswell!

TG992 is right. Air New Zealand operated a 767-200ER to Kuala Lumpur via Singapore on Wednesdays and Saturdays. This service in fact connected with British Airways' service which arrived from London a few hours earlier and I seem to remember Air NZ and BA operated a connecting service through to AKL from LHR at the time with KUL as a stopover choice.

...ahh... the days before STAR and OneWorld.

There's another flight from Male on Thursday, October 24. Flight NZ 1203 arrived from Male at 1:25 am. However, it's odd that there's no outbound NZ flight from KUL.

By the way, any plans for NZ to return to KUL? MAS had been experiencing pretty good loads for it's KUL-NZ run. Maybe an extension of the Singapore flight?

I'm not sure whether NZ will return to KUL. Code-share with Star Partner Thai or SIA would work.

I think NZ is trying to concentrate NZ hub-to-Star Alliance hub routes.

Interestingly, Malaysia Airlines and NZ Tourism are now working together to improve loads on the KUL-AKL run. No mention of Air NZ showing any interest. Suppose we can thank STAR for that - since NZ just uses SQ to provide a feeder service into KUL.

PS - The new MAS advert is fantastic isn't it - at least it updates MAS' image in the media.
