JAL - Larger PTV In Business Than In First!

I was looking at JAL's website just before, and I discovered an interesting fact. Their new First Class (introduced earlier this year), has a rather small by today's standards PTV screen of 6.4". The new Business Class (introduced a little later this year) meanwhile has a PTV screen of 10.4". Competitor ANA meanwhile has launched recently a new First Class product with a 15" PTV screen. This seems to be a bit of an oversight on JAL's part - it has been obvious for several years now that larger PTV screens are the thing.

The question is, will JAL increase the size of their First Class PTV screens, or leave them at the rather embarrassing size they are at the moment? I like the look of their new First Class product, but this is definitely a weakness in it.

(Apologies to those of you who see the abbreviation PTV and roll their eyes - I am usually one of you, but I thought this was a fair enough point from a marketing viewpoint)

Well, some of their long haul flights have Eye-Trek which according to their description, will 'produces an image with the same visual impact as a 62-inch screen.' With that, I'm sure they have the largest PTV screen!  Laugh out loud

cathay pacific, now you're really flying

This eye goggle thing seems to have one drawback. How are you going to have your meal while watching a movie at the same time?

That contraption looks like something to promote the use of JAL's airsick bags. It looks stupid.

I've tried the Eye Tek on JAL. We had a choice of a DVD player and the Eye Tek. However, I prefer the PTV screens though the Eye Tek is a great entertainment piece.

Shortfinals, agreed...there is nothing else you can do once you put those on!

Are there safety issues with those Eye-Trek glasses?

Is this one of those "my PTV is bigger than your PTV" issues that the adolescents love to get all agitated about? Big grin
