Hey folks!

As checked, the last QF B 747-200 will not retire until 2004 (Not sure when though)

However, as checked, there is no direct flight between Sydney and Cairns in April, according to the Qantas Website. I was trying to book one with a direct flight through Red-deal. I also tried 'All Fares & Bookings from Australia.' but still.......

Also prices went up so much since yesterday.

Can anyone help me on this? I suppose the new time-table hasn't been sorted out. There is no way QF would provide no direct flights between Sydney and Cairns.

Awaiting your reply.

Hi United Airline,

Maybe it's all part of a marketing exercise by Brisbane City Council - or just a way of using up all those old frozen muffins which they're currently serving but which will expire around that date: hey, fly "Spirit of Australia" and get two state-of-the-art, world's-best-practice lunch-packs for the price of one. If I were you - I'd keep trying until a direct flight comes up (no-one could stomach two lunch packs!)

Seriously, did you use the "Best Price" option (I presume this is automatic via the Red e-Deals)? I've just spoken with QANTAS and they said that the majority of cheap fares will be back via BNE. Instead of "Best Price", if you select "Schedule", that should show you flights with available capacity, you can then select direct flights against which will be calculated the applicable fare.

I just tried it for April and there were heaps of SYD-CNS flights including 742s as the aircraft.

Must have been a temporary glitch. Have another try and see how it goes.

Sydney to Cairns on the April 1st (for example):
QF167 Sydney 0605 Cairns 0905 743
QF710 Sydney 0855 Cairns 1155 742
QF770 Sydney 1040 Cairns 1345 73H
QF690 Sydney 1310 Cairns 1610 763
QF772 Sydney 1855 Cairns 2200 73H
All are wide open, seems like enough!

I want a flight from SYD to CNS on 18/4/2003 and back on 27/4 if possible.

However, it indicated that the earliest date I can get for SYD-CNS is 20th. And 29th for CNS-SYD.  Smile

Well, it looks like you've missed the boat (or plane!) on cheap flights - isn't that around Easter and School Holidays etc?

If you want to fly direct on those dates then you're looking at $717.30 with QF:

QF710/QF567 both on B742, both direct.

Any chance of getting a super deal through Red Deal? Let's say AU$ 459?

I think it's because you searched for a red e-deal. If there are none of those fares left, it says no flights available until X date. But if you read carefully, it is ONLY for those edeals.

One hint, the qantas red edeal site only offers direct flights on many of the routes. If you select qantas red edeals through travel.com.au, they give you options with stopovers - same price (a few $$ extra tax) but more flights. Much better value.

You might be able to get a flight SYD-BNE-CNS if you're lucky.

Even Melbourne-Canberra offers you options via Sydney. Pure enthusiast's heaven!
