KLM's Basiq Air to expand to 13 destinations from 6 currently

KLM Royal Dutch Airlines NV unit Transavia said it will expand the number of destinations offered by its low-cost service Basiq Air to 13 from 6 now from April 1.

Basiq Air will add the destinations Alicante, Faro, Palma de Mallorca, Seville, Milan, Naples and Pisa to its existing routes, the airline said.

Transavia will maintain a no frills concept, charging for additional service on board, on its Basiq Air service and on 30 of its 70 charter destinations.

Expanding Low cost capasity from AMS it seems ...

Hmm. Change of plans? I thought KLM wanted to scrap BasiqAir and integrate the routes it now operates into Buzz while turning the rest of the regular Transavia flights over to the KLM mainline operation leaving Transavia with only their charter network.

I wish I were flying

Great News!

I really want to fly Basiq air but haven't had the chance...indeed a few more months and a few more destinations at least!

Whats the relevance of the Basiq Air name?

Is it a fancy derivation of Basic Air? (as in "basic" - no frils?)

Will they take the Pisa and Naples routes from Transavia??

About Milan, does Transavia still fly the daily AMS-LIN (late evening flight).

Basiq Air won't be integrated in Buzz. It will operate as a 100 procent seat-only service of Transavia. KLM will operate the transfer-destinations such as CMN.

Transavia will stop service to the following destinations:
Casablanca (KLM) , Oporto (KLM) , Thessaloniki ( why? ) , Valencia , (also why ? ) and Kathmandu (still a mistery cause according to HV the route always fully booked)

rgds, Plane Holland

That's a mystery indeed....if the KTM route is doing well, and main scheduled HV operations will be taken over by KL, maybe something for Martinair to take the service over? or KL? with a non-stop flight?
