I found some old photos the other day, a couple of which were fom around 1992 and were of an Airbus A320 (I think) operating in the UK. The airline name was 'Excalibur'. Are they still in existence, if not, what happened to them?

Excalibur were the second UK charter airline to introduce the A320 in 1992 after Air 2000, as such they were something of a trendsetter. They enjoyed much success with their A320s on European flights and announced that they would operate long-haul to Florida with DC-10-30s in 1996. The aircraft they intended to lease had their contracts fall through, and so EXC were forced to sub-charter other Dc-10s at huge expense. Also, these aircraft were unreliable, and suffered many well publicised problems, many passengers refused to fly Excalibur and they ceased operations in June or September 1996 (Can't remember which) They were a good airline that fell victim to poor planning and over-ambition.

Excalibur belongs to my memories of plane spotting. I was able to shot it when I still didn't have a camera, it was with one of my friends camera.
