SQ used to operate flight SQ15/16 I think on a SIN/HKG/HNL/SFO
routing. The return flight went SFO/HNL/HKG/SIN This was flown
with the B747-300s. This flight along with one from LAX that flew
LAX/HNL/TPE/SIN would land within 30minutes of each other in HNL
around2-3am. When they got the B744s, they eliminated the stops

SQ actually flew SIN-HKG-HNL-SFO and SIN-TPE-HNL-LAX with the Boeing 747-200 and DC-10 aircraft. This routing then progressed on to the Boeing 747-300, but due to winds en route to Singapore, the B743s had to make a technical stop at HNL, while having the range to fly HKG-SFO direct.
When the Boeing 747-400 aircraft came along, HNL was eliminated. I really would like to see SIA putting a 772ER from SIN-HKG/TPE-HNL sometime soon.

Yes UA1837 UA still flies HNL - NRT just that UA can't claim that it's a scheldued flight from Hong Kong comparing to before. But I guess that does not make much difference as I doubt much Hong Kong people would go to HNL for vacations anyways so that's why no HKG - HNL route lasted long.
