A340-400?

Is there, was there ever, or why is there not, an A340-400?

I've never heard of one at least, and there is no sign of one on the airbus website. Thanks for any info.

Brian - it was a study for a stretched A340, based on the original wing. It was dropped in favour of the -500/-600 programme.

I´ve read that A 344 will be an M-version,type
transport of soldiers, radarspotting....maybe AWAC!

Flyf15 - No I don't think so. I am pretty sure the A340-400 was a stretched -300 with uprated engines. The A340-8000 was an extended range A340-200, of which only one was ever produced (for the Sultan of Brunei). I am 99% sure of this.

It was never delivered and was parked @ SXF for a long time.
