If you're looking for an An-225 photo opportunity, it will be arriving at New York JFK on 9th December, loading on the 10th, and departing on 11th bound for Entebbe (Uganda) but refuelling in Lisbon.

Maybe this should be posted in the photographer forum, to alert them about the (exciting) news. Perhaps some of them could try standing in its flightpath and finally catch some contrail shots? Must be awesome, 6 contrails...

AA61hvy: If it is anything like its visit to Munich: Roughly 1/3 of the runway, with the shallowest climb you've ever seen following afterwards. Unlike an A340, it actually rotates early (taking up less runway than most regional jets). But then it climbs even less convincingly. My friends were joking that it would probably fly by ground effect until it reached its destination  Big grin

wow, thats shocking, i would expect it to use say 11,000 feet of a 13,000 foot runway. and climb like an a340. real low and slow. but we will see

Are we sure this is going to be the AN-225? Last time the AN-225 was supposed to come to JFK an AN-124 took it's place. I would hate for people to go to JFK and be disappointed.

I didnt think that the AN225 had good enough range to cross the ocean, is it going to stop somewhere between those two destinations?

I've been told that the times stated are local, but no word yet on whether the aircraft is routing from Borispol or Gostomel.
