YX's Advertised Name?

Correct me if I'm mistaken, but wasnt Midwest Express supposedly changed to just "Midwest"... as stated in one of their press releases? Has that change been retracted by the airline?

They did change their name, but it won't take effect until after the NewYear, to give the company time to prepare. In addition to dropping the commuter-sounding "Express" from YX's name, Skyway Airlines will soon be called "Midwest Connect" to better co-brand the airlines in the minds of the general public.

Midwest Express will receive there first B717-200 in February of next year and go into revenue service in March. They will be brand new airplanes coming off the line and the first tail number is N902ME if I remeber reading that from work. None of the DC9's in the Midwest Express fleet will be painted in the livery. All DC9's should be retired sometime in 2005. I have not heard when the MD-80's will be painted but my guess is that aircraft N813ME will be the first after it comes out of the mod line sometime next spring.

Does anyone know how the fleet will look after all the 717s and RJs are delivered?

That is the plan right now to replace one DC9-10 or -30 with a brand new B717-200 starting in Feb. 2003. The fleet after all the B717-200's and RJ's are delivered should be 11 MD-80's, 2 MD-88's and as of now 25 B717-200's with a option of 25 more B717-200's. For Skyway or the Midwest Connect in a few months they should have 15 B1900D's, 10 328 Jets and I believe 20 Embraer jets with a option of 20 more. Deliveries of the Embraer jets will start in Jan. 2004 and they will receive one every other month.
