What To Do With SOS Tickets?

American Airlines had a program for their elites where they would hand out little squares of paper called "Someone Special" or SOS tickets. They were given out to f/a's, gate agents etc. and could be redeemed for discounted travel. Unfortunately AA ended the promotion and I have 10 I need to use. They can be redeemed by the AA employees by Jan 31, 2003, but I don't have any travel planned until after that so I ask, what should I do with them?

CMK10, even though you're not traveling fill them out except for the employees name and give them to anyone you know who is flying AA, they can then hand them out. The junior crews really use them as a lot of them have to commute and they still pay for coach travel. You will make some employees very happy, thanks for asking.

I can't think of the name of the group (someone here or at AA might know) but I seem to recall that some AA F/A's put together a group that coordinates off-duty airline employees traveling to deliver medical supplies to less-fortunate areas. They also travel as escorts for kids coming into the USA for adoptions and medical treatments. Perhaps they can use them....

Just remembered the group is called Airline Ambassadors, and their site is at http://www.airlineamb.org

I for one will only use my remaining SOS certificates as they were intended. However, as TWA LLC employees cannot use them, I just have one eligible AA flight and a couple encounters with front-line employees at JAX during which I can use my leftovers. Those employees will not receive them unless they warrant them though. I'd rather throw my leftover ones away than give them out to those who don't deserve them for the purpose of disposing of the things.

I've got a stack of 'em sitting here as well. Free to a good home if any AA Elites can use some, otherwise I'll even pass 'em on to an AA employee who is a worthwhile poster here.

unfortunaltely we only have to dec 6 to deposit them to our aachivers acounts. Junior employees make better use of them because senior employees fly for free anyway...so if you have them just lying around make an AA employee very happy and give them a whole bunch we usually share them if we get a bunch at a time..........we used to die for them but we havent gotten them lately and know we know why....

On a serious note, I am an AA Platinum with 8 SOS coupons to spare. I don't have any itins booked on AA before the deadline, so either I give these away now or they get thrown in the trash. If any AA employees WHO POST HERE want some (max 2 to each employee so you don't get audited), drop me an email (email address in my profile) with your name and mailing addy and I'll send 'em out next week as a thanks for all your insight and posts on airliners.net
