Easyjet In Scandinavia

Easyjet is planning to launch new services in Scandinavia. So far it is expected that Easyjet only route to Scandinavia (Copenhagen) will replace GO's route operting now.
Easyjet will have a press release about the Scandianvian market next week. Anyone who knows what this will mean...?

Questions:
Will Easyjet strengthen their service to CPH by adding additional flights?
Will Easyjet start service to Norway? In case most likely to Oslo (OSL).
As of today Ryanair is the largest carrier between Stockholm and London, placing SAS second!! Will Easyjet dare to challenge Ryanair?

I don't know about their plans, but I think from airports like SVG, BGO and TRD there is enough market for a low cost flight to London and maybe also Newcastle from SVG.
Since Ryanair talked a lot they wanted to start flying these routes from STN, but nothing happened, I hope Easyjet will start to fly there.

From what I know Ryanair has already plans (this time quite solid from what I've heard) to start flying to Haugesund (HAU) and Ørland outside Trondheim. Both destinations will get service to Stansted.

I don't think there is a market for NCL-SVG. Norwegian (DY) recently decided to stop this service, but Widerøe is still operating this route.

Lowcost carriers to Norway is spreading. From TRF outside Oslo there are now routes to Glasgow, Hahn, London, Nice, Paris and Alicante.
From Stavanger SVG and Bergen BGO there are services to Malaga and Alicante.
Funny - from Oslo airport OSL there are absolutly NONE!

There are many daily domestic flights by Norwegian and 3 daily to CPH by Sterling.

Yes you're right.I forgot Sterlings route to CPH, MGP and ALC. The domestic service within Norway I did not consider since the topic was about Easyjet in Scandianavia and their competitors.

I also think Easyjet could try to challenge Ryanair on some routes...given FR do not fly into main airports, they miss out on a lot of business revenue, which easyjet could pick-up, as it has a policy of using main airports.

Not sure to what extent FR is competing directly with SAS...I shouldn't think there is *that* much competition unless you're telling me SAS customers are willing to drive a long way out of the city to fly Ryanair.

I should think Easyjet would be a more serious threat to SAS, if it begins to fly to capitals and/or main cities.

Fares between Scandinavia and the UK are rather high, some competition (that flies to more convenient airports  Big grin ) would be welcome.

I agree - Ryanair and SAS have different makets. But SAS want to get back passengers travelleing on the lesiure segment, and Ryanair wants businessmen...so..

Easyjet would be a much bigger threath to SAS than Ryanair - no doubt. Hope to see Easyjet at Oslo, Stockholm and Helsingfors (Helsinki)

To be honest, I don't think they care. Trying to attract businessmen costs too much

-They know that secondary airports are not popular with everyone

-They will never fly to main airports unless they are as cheap to operate into as secondary airports

-Evidently, a lot of people don't seem to mind flying into the middle of nowhere  Big grin

-They are already doing very well without having to chase after business pax

-Ryanair gets some business pax anyway (yes, seriously!)

On the other hand, it isn't very convenient for people like me, who would like to visit Oslo for the day. TRF is too far for me, even though FR fares are much cheaper than BA or SAS.....which is why I want Easyjet to fly there!  Big thumbs up

Around 60% of FR passengers only fly because FR are so cheap(based on figurres I have seen)ie they create their own markets.
EZY do this to some extent but mainly pull biz passengers away from the 'flag-carriers'
FR may well suffer a bit if the EU plans go through to becoming law(have they done already?)

Really? Haven't heard anything about that airports like DUB and MAN are cheap. Or is it because there's no other airport?

However, I really hope to see easyJet here at ARN.

Well LPL is pretty close to MAN and they serve both but there are huge numbers of Irish in both cities so its self-explanatory.
I wonder if EZY will start a base at somewhere in Scandi?

Indeed, FR do use some "main" airports, but only because they have gained super-concessions from the authorities, in the way of very low fees, no fees, or even subsidies.
