Demand. I believe Southwest and America West are the biggest airlines at ABQ. America West probably couldn't fill a 757 to ABQ except for maybe the holiday season. The other airlines (UA, American, Delta) simply feed passengers into and out of ABQ from nearby hubs (PHX, DIA, DFW). Unless Albuquerque sees some sort of explosive population growth, the Sunport will remain as it is, unable to support the large birds we would like to see

Back in my ramp days in ABQ, (1995-1995 working for DL and HP who was contracted by CO and F9) HP got a 757 daily except Sat from PHX and it was usually full inbound and rarely saw more than 50 pax outbound. The flight came in at 1900and left at 2000 (if memory serves). ABQ757 may have more current info, but I think all HP flies into ABQ is 737s and A-319s.ADIOS

I believe that i have seen only 737's and one 757 that has flown into ABQ. Delta sends MD-88's, 727's, 737's, and i have seen one 757. American only sends MD-80's, Northwest sends a 727, Continental sends 737's, and MD-80's, TWA sends MD-83's, and used to send 727's and one L1011, and United sends 737's, 727's, and an occasional 757.
