I've heard this term thrown around a few times in conversations I've overheard with frequent flyers. And from the way they talk, it sounds like a perk. What is it?

It's an upgrade cert issued by United for its highest-level elite (1K) flyers. If you fly 10,000 miles per quarter as a 1K with United you'll get issued with two of these. They are valid for a one-way upgrade on any UA flight within mainland US, including connecting flights. The important point about these is that they are not time-verified - the upgrade can be confirmed at time of booking, in the same way as the Systemwide Upgrade (SWU) certs.

Thanks!!!

I didn't know it was strictly a United term. I thought all airlines use it.
