Picked up one of those "ad-postcards" at uni today... this one I was attracted to bacause it had a SA 744 on it.

It says on the card that Singapore Airlines have special fares for AU uni students that can be emailed to you.... but you need to give them a *.edu.au email address.

Anyway, I though some of you might like to know...

To be utterly frank, the website doesnt give you promotional fares..... Its the same as a normal fare.... I got my really promo fare at the travel agent.... 1Y return PER/SIN/PER at $530 on SQ.

Student fares are not normally the cheapest fares an airline or agent sells, simply cheaper than a standard ticket with the same flexibility as the student fare.

Least that's what STA told me. Since I don't usually require the flexibility, I don't always buy student tickets.

Don't forget that student fares get you a 30kg allowance in Y-class as well.

Capt Picard... maybe... but a normal 30day tix by SQ PER/SIN/PER with no date change, no miles, costs AUD $700+..... compared to my 1Y full flexibility tix....

Not all student tickets get this allowance.

I'm from Brisbane, and a W class, 90 days SQ student ticket purchased from STA Brisbane, gets you the normal 20kgs allowance. BNE/SIN/BNE.

I can get a Y class, 1 year tkt, with a better price (about $100-$200 cheaper than BNE), less restrictions and more luggage allowance (30 kgs), purchased from Singapore. SIN/BNE/SIN.
