It's ugly...

Well the logo and the new 'sun' logo isnt that ugly but the old livery is much better... even if they put new logos on old livery it is nicer i think

I like the JAL on the side of the plane... but that tail looks out of place.

By the way, what kind of engines are those?

My posts/replies are strictly my opinion and not that of any company, organization, or Southwest Airlines.

I love it !!!! the tail looks much more "japanese" than a crane, people will grow to like it.... I can't remember a new livery that has been recieved warmly...

Simply... ...too simple.

Another proof that airline managers are afraid of colour.

The new JAL scheme looks looks very basic, but it's not bad. The current/old scheme is still much better in every sense of the word in my opinion.

I read somewhere a few weeks ago that the first aircraft to be painted in the new design for international routes will be the DC-10 in December.

Can anyone confirm this?

The only not-so-great thing about the new livery for JL is the fact it lacks the famous Crane logo that was introduced in the 1960's.

I wish that JL would at least incorporate a small version of that logo right behind the JAPAN AIRLINES text.

Like I said a few weeks ago, JAL's new logo isn't that bad the more I look at it the more I like it. I would have prefer if they kept the crane logo.

I, too, miss the crane, and wish it were also present on the tail in white, even if it was small.

Thinking about white, it is hard to discern from pictures how "white" the white really might be. Wasn't it supposed to be pink-hued? Could someone who has seen it in the flesh respond if it is?

Yes. DC-10 is expected to be the first international aircraft to wear new livery, according to the earlier plan.

I'm rather disappointed with the livery also. I also miss the crane and I had to cringe when I saw Japan TransOcean Air's new livery which is exactly the same, they're ditching the red JTA tails with the lines representing the ocean as they are Okinawa-based.
