The 737 is the best-selling commercial jetliner of all time.

Airlines and other operators have ordered more than 4,950 Boeing 737s, with more than 4,000 delivered. Currently more than 300 airline operators in 105 countries fly 737s.

On the average about 1,000 737s are in the air at all times; one takes off every 5.5 seconds.

The 737 fleet has carried more than 6.1 billion passengers.

Since its commercial revenue service history began in 1968, the 737 fleet has flown more than 43.8 billion miles -- approximately 235 round trips from Earth to the sun.

The 737 fleet has produced more than 97 million hours of revenue service for its operators -- equivalent to about 11,000 years of continuous service.

The 737 fleet has made more than 82 million flights.

Since its introduction, the 737 fleet has generated approximately $650 billion in revenue for commercial airline operators.

The current-generation 737 airplanes build on the success of the 737 Classics - airplanes with an unprecedented on-time rate of 99.7% -- by combining tested technology with improvements that simplify maintenance, reduce operational costs, and strengthen reliability.

Of the more than 10,800 Boeing commercial jets ordered, approximately 41 percent have been 737 family members.

There are approximately 357,000 parts in 737-300/-400/-500s. About 600,000 bolts and rivets fasten these parts together.

Typically, about 50 gallons of paint are used to paint an average 737. The paint weighs approximately 300 pounds.

There are approximately 40.5 miles of wire in a 737-300.
