Can anybody please explain the following?:

a) Cathay Pacific sticking to RR engines only for all of their aircraft fleet (except the A343)

b) Korean Air sticking to PW engines only for all of their aircraft fleet (except the B738)

I don't understand why some airlines stick to only one engine manufacturer.

Commonality?? Most airlines like to have a family of engines (Like some aircraft like a family of aircraft. If one airline sticks to Rolls-Royce, than they will have a common engine family, and mechanics will not have to deal with "foreign" engines. If a Mechanic is good at Rolls-Royce, than why would you stick him in front of a P&W or GE. and Vice Versa, Vice Versa.
