I have booked a trip next June from IAH to ATH via AMS using Onepass miles flying on Continental and KLM. Unfortunately, they are not able to confirm the segment from ATH - AMS on the way home. (Getting harder and harder to use miles these days to fly overseas!) Of course my preferance is for them to get this via miles, but I started looking into one-way fares just in case. The cheapest tickets on Olympic or KLM are around $500 each (need 2). No way am I paying an extra $1000 for one segement. I can get around $270 each if I connect somewhere, but 2 connects from Europe all on different airlines is just asking to miss a flight or lose bags.
Question is: What low-fare airlines might run this route. I looked at Ryanair's website, but they do not seem to service Greece.

The only low-cost routes to/from Greece are:
easyJet London Luton-Athens (twice daily)
easyJet London Gatwick-Athens (once daily)
There are rumours that easyJet will start Amsterdam and Liverpool to Athens flights though I wouldn't hold my breath since those have been around for a long time.
You probably could fly Athens-Luton-Amsterdam with easyJet though it is rather risky. If one flight is late/cancelled, you won't be put on the next Luton-Amsterdam. It is also worth bearing in mind that easyJet flights to/from Athens are never really that cheap.

Virgin Express flies from Athens to Brussels, but you would most probably have to take the train then. Another option would be booking the return flight out of London Gatwick or Brussels instead of Athens via Amsterdam.
