There are rumours that UM Air (UF) of Ukraine is considering getting a 767-300 to begin flights from Kiev to Delhi. Air Ukraine (6U) still holds the rights for the KBP-DEL-KBP route, but hasn't flown the route for several years, due to financial performance and unsuitable aircraft. UF is considering flying the route via THR.
Apparently there is some hesitance on the Indian side as 6U still owes the Indian authorities an undisclosed amount of money, but UF is arguing that this debt is not theirs (which is isn't).
I would expect that there would be some outcry from 6U if UF is allowed to take a 767 and inaugurate this service.
In other Ukrainian 767 news, Aerosvit (VV) is reporting loads of 70%+ for their 767-300ER flights to BKK, and bookings for the next few months are at the 70% mark at the moment. Up to 60% of this traffic is expected to be transit traffic, with BKK flights connecting with flights to WAW, STO, PRG, BUD and TLV. VV are also using the 767 for flights to Hurghada and Sharm el-Sheikh. Their second 767 is due in April 2003, and will inaugurate 4 x weekly to JFK and 2 x weekly to YUL in May 2003.

Hi Flyyul. Yep, it was an error on my account. I often get Montreal and Toronto mixed up.
Also, UM Air is also saying that they too would like to inaugurate flights to Bangkok, however this is now very unlikely as Aerosvit already fly that route, and I don't see them getting Ukrainian government approval to compete on the route with the airline which they want to become the new national carrier.

"By the end of 2002 the airline opened regular flights toDubai (UAE) and Delhi (India). And now UM Air works on the project of the Boeing-767 leasing for regular flights to USA, Canada, Thailand."

"From June 6, 2002 UM Air airline implemented Boeing 737-300 and 767."
Well, they do operate a 737-300 (on lease from Jordan aviation), as shown above, but they have no 767 in their fleet now. They also have not been given permission to fly the Dubai nor Delhi. 6U, T6, PS and VV all have flights loaded into Amadeus for KBP-DXB, but nothing on that route for UF.
I think the airline webmaster or marketing department seems to have quite an imagination
Am just waiting to hear back from my guy at Ukraviatrans to see what has or hasn't been lodged with them.

Seems to me like things are getting out of hand over ther...we have had 10 years of lousy international service, with broken deadlines for 767 and A330 service by 6U. Failed merger talks between a number of airlines, and now we have the three big boys on the block Ukraine International, Aerosvit, and UMAir all trying to do the same thing, while neglecting the fact that the regional/domestic service they offer is still crap...This is not how a potential "flag-carrier" should be operating. Some kind of standardization needs to happen, there are less then 50 million people living in Ukraine, half of those if not more cant afford to fly, and there are some 10 or 12 "larger" operators out there...thats no way to offer an efficient service...Either the government needs to set out some more regulations with respect to how an airline operates, or some of those big airlines need to hire some people with experiance in "modern" aviation managment....

Sorry didnt see the link from above...Thats another thing....Its supposed to be one of the "major" airlines of Ukriane, yet their website has nothing in Ukrainian on it...now that is pathetic....at least Aerosvit offers three versions...

Also just wanted to add, I thought Aerosvit was applying for Delhi service. They indicate on their site http://www.aerosvit.com/eng/article/163 That they will be flying to Delhi as of January 03!

I am just waiting to hear back from my contact at Ukraviatrans. As you can probably understand it can take a while.
I guess that both UF and VV want to fly the route to DEL. But it all comes down to which airline receives the rights to do so.
I am thinking given UF and VV, that VV would be the recipient of the route authority, but there is still the problem of the debt owed to the Indians, which I am sure they would want cleared before they allow any Ukrainian airline to start flying scheduled services (saves them getting burnt double I suppose).

You are right, VV will probably get the route to DEL, with the condition that they pay of 6u's depts to India.
Scotty do you know if they have people from the west, or from other airlines comming in to set up these new operations??
