Vietnam Airlines has chose Hong Kong as it's hub to North Asia and North America.

Vietnam Airlines is also considering to launch all-cargo flights to Hong Kong.

HKG is being chosen is because it's an ideal location to connect North America traffic to/from Vietnam.

Vietnam Airlines has also signed a deal with Cathay Pacific for participation in "Asia Miles".

some corroboration would be nice.....

VN originally chose TPE to be their gateway to N. America. Why the supposed change? (not that I'm complaining; I'd rather traverse Chek Lap Kok over Chiang Kai Shek any day!!)

Any idea if or when Vietnam will be offering service to North America? Will they codeshare with another carrier, or will they fly their own equipment?

Interesting news, but I didn't hear anything official from the airline so far. Is there a newspaper article or something like that?

By the way, I had a look to their routemap on the website. Why is Zurich on this map? As far as I know, they never flew to ZRH. Would be glad if someone could shed some light on that. http://www.vietnamair.com.vn/network.htm

Is VN codeshare with CX to opearate from HKG to N. America or doing it on their own? If so, what are the destinations? Please advise.

Vietnam Airlines has also received rights to fly Taipei-Seoul, by the way.

I am not sure if Vietnam Airlines will codeshare with any US partner on these routes, but I do know that AA does codeshare with them out of CDG to Vietnam and I think NRT to Vietnam as well.

I agree with ConcordeBoy, some corroboration is needed.

@Airways:

They operated to Zurich as a codesharing partner of Swissair (with SR MD-11).
But this was 2 years or so ago.....would be nice if they will come back to Zurich...
