I am fortunate enough to have a spare day at the end of a short break to Paris. I will be staying at a hotel in the airport area and was wondering which one is best. I don't mind a lack of quality (within reason) for a good view of aircraft movements from my room. I've heard that the Ibis at the airport is good, can anyone confirm this? I have a decent pair of binoculars and would love to spot from the hotel room is this possible? I am staying over Easter. Will there be anything special (that does not come into LHR/LGW) coming in? I would love to be able to see the US traffic come in in the morning.

PS I will not have a car. Any spotting suggestions?

I've stayed at the Hilton Airport Hotel at CDG. This was after a particularly difficult 1 1/2 weeks in parts of Africa. It was expensive but I needed the luxury after what I'd been through. My room had runway views but tell them what you want when checking in. I'm sure they'll be accomodating.

The Sofitel is better than the Ibis but more expensive. There again, as Bicoastal suggests, you're better to ask for it since it's not from all sides that you have a good view. I guess the best ones are the Sheraton and Hilton because they're located right by the terminals. Another good thing about the Sofitel is that they have an AF 'Petroleum Club' suite. It is more than handy when your transit time is not long enough to have an hotel room but, especially when you arrive from Africa, you're in real need for a shower, a beer and a rest.

Thanks for the help guys. Is it possible to get aircraft registrations from the hotel rooms?

The CDG Hilton is 5-star. If you are employed by an airline, you can ask for and receive a 30% (I believe) discount on food and room service. If you give some advance warning you can get excellent views of either the north or south runway environments. You'll have to ask the front desk where the best rooms would be. I'm afraid I can't remember the room numbers that would be best.

If you are interested, there is good public transportation into the City.

Have a great trip!

Hi Mark!

I live in Paris, so I have never slept at CDG, but if you want to spot, i can advice you to book a room at The Sheraton. This Hotel is inside the Terminal 2, and you can see the 2 of the 3 runways.
I think that it's the best choice for you.
