This has has made my year and I am exremely happy!

I will be flying on Cathay Pacific Airways from LAX to BOM with a stop of course in HKG. The LAX-HKG route will be flown with A340-600. I will be departing Feb. 15, 2002. I really happy about this!  Smile I am sick of flying 747-400's on Pacific routes! I've always wanted something new.

Just a note, HGK-BOM will be a 777-300.

It's a very comfortable ride, I assure you.

Take a moment to stroll down the very back of the aircraft and look up towards the front...you'll be able to see the whole fuselage flexing in flight.

I would love to fly the trip for you... I have neither flown with the A346 nor the 773.
Will every HKG-LAX flight be operated by the A346 or will they also have the 744 fly a certain number of those flights?
I'm asking this because I heard that Cathay will use the A346 on an extra daily HKG-LHR flight but since they don't have too many of those birds ordered I'm asking myself if the'll have enough planes to operate seven flights to LAX and seven to LHR.

Max

Once CX have all 3 A340-600s they will be used for following.

2 aircraft will fly JFK nonstop and the other will do SYD.

"My condolences! I hope you get to fly a 777 next time."

Oh, please, no A vs. B bias here. They're both superb aircraft and I look foward to flying both. United777, I'm sure you're in for a special treat!

Your next post about this should be in the Trip Report Forum.  Big thumbs up

Its better to be on the ground wishing you were in the air than be in the air wishing you were on the ground. Fly safe!

Well I stil get to fly on a 777 from Singapore to Mumbai. It will be a 777-300.

Just like Cathay_Pacific said I just hope they will not change the aircraft. It will ruin my whole trip. I was picking betwen SIA and Cathay Pacific but picked Cathay because I never flown them before.

Hkgspotter1 - I booked my ticket about two weeks ago but I didn't look at the aircraft assuming it would be a 744 like always. But I also saw that Cathay recived there new 346 and looked it up and saw it was indeed a A340-600. On the way back it will be a 744 from HKG-LAX.

I am really sick of flying 744's over the Pacific. I want something knew and finally we do get something new. Before it use to be maily 747's over the pacific. Now we get 777 and A340's!  Smile

I can't wait until Singapore Airlines start non-stop flights from LAXSFO-SIN with there A340-500's. I will always fly that route to India via Singapore when I get there every year.

That's going to be a great trip, flying the two longest airliners in the world. It sounds like a great trip, flying on two superb new airliners. Hope you have a good trip.
