Heard a rumor in PHL that A mechanic and Ramper got fired after fighting in their break room over the rejection vote. Anyone at UA heard this and can comfirm it?
While I hate the fact that the mecahnics did what they did and put us all under this black cloud. I can't belive this has disintigrated into a brawl. Although I still haven't spoken to any mechanics in PHL in days.

While its a shame that it would come to this (if it has), I can't say I'd be surprised. Without defending what they did, I have no doubt that the IAM members who voted down the contract had very sound reasons, in their own minds, and it was probably a difficult and emotional decision for them. At the same time most other UA employees feel betrayed and victimized. Tempers are hot, everyone is wondering what next, and all it takes is a couple of snide comments, and suddenly punches are thrown.
Back in the early 90s when the AA FAs were about to go on strike, the non-union (mostly HDQ) staff decided to hold a counter rally to the FAs outside of AA's headquarters. That got ugly so fast that it took fire hoses to break us apart. Jobs and union issues have always been emotional issues.
