Who can tell me when Iberia´s livery was introduced? Must have been around 1980, but I´d like to know it more exactly. I quite like its unique design, it really stands the test of time, being more than 20 years old.

I quite like it, although it could be improved a little (perhaps some orange on the belly and engines - and winglets for the A340). But I adore their aircraft names!

Watch out for a livery change in the near future...

That livery was introduced between 1978 & 1979... I think it's so representative of Spain (but will they modify it on a near future?, I don´t know).

Given the current trend to change corporate identities to a more 'modern' look, I'd not be surprised.
Given that most of those changes are for the worse...

I hope they do not intend to change IB's livery, it's a smart classic scheme that has worked pretty well for more than 24 years now and the colors are very representative of the spanish flag, yellow and red. They have made some small modifications, like the slight changes they applied to the Royal Crown, or getting rid off the nose black dot, but this livery is still working very well.
Iberia needs other priority changes, and I believe their livery is not one of them  Insane
I wouldn´t like IB following the steps its partner BA discarding a great livery for a dodgy one!
I believe liveries like IB, BA's landor, AZ or KLM are/were the best in Europe, and it's sad to see them go forever..

Both Iberia and Alitalia are Landor designs.

Alpere1 - the wife just got back from Sevilla last Tuesday (had to spend the night at ORD though). Absolutely loved it. She said the food was the best she has ever had, and the shopping was great. Many thanks to your fellow countrymen from a Yankee who was totally impressed.

She said the Iberia A340 going over did not have the most comfortable seats, but the return didn't seem so bad. No complaints on service either way, and she said that the Madrid to Sevilla flights were quite comfortable.

Goingboeing, I'm glad your wife had such a great time in Sevilla! I'm sorry to hear that the A340 seats weren't so comfortable. IB's domestic and european flights are usually better than their long hauls, I think short and medium range flights is where IB gets its best bucks.. !

I love the current IBERIA livery with its radiant colours. It's a real classic in my opinion. However, I have been to Spain several times and I think that the logo and corporate identity designers over there have some great tastes. Meaning that should a replacement livery be round the corner, then I have great expectations and I trust that they will be fulfilled.

I have flown IBERIA and I was very postively impressed and would definitely love to fly them again.

Having been to various parts of Spain, I'd say the best of Spain lies in the warm approach of its great people, not underestimating the wonderful cultures, the rich history and the simply delicious food variety. I had plans to go to Fuerteventura in the Canary Islands next week, but sadly, I had to cancel my plans... Nevermind, I'll be back soon

BBADXB, in the name of my fellow citizens and myself, thank you for your kind words about our country.
the IBERIA livery is sure a nice paint scheme, and it is really hard to accept that it may have to be changed in the future, I suppose that being a private owned company now, they may be thinking of a new livery to cope with the new times and identity of the company.

Since the beginning of the winter schedule we get now Air Nostrum's CRJ's to LUX twice a day. I really love the livery and think IB has one of the best around. Let's hope they won't change it too radically..... Unfortunately I have never flown on Iberia so far (only in 1982 twice on an Aviaco DC-8-63.... these were the days!).

Cheers,

Tom

Alpere1: I was planning to go to Tenerife in March (for Carnival), but I do not know how I will make it as now I have more work too. But, perhaps, I can postpone it. I haven't been to Galicia yet, but now it is even more important to visit it.
How has 'it' affected aviation in Galicia (if any)?

BBADXB, the Canary Islands' carnival is something to be seen at least once in a lifetime! if not more..
Here in Galicia, we see our future very dark, and full of fueloil, the spill has reached most of our coast and the threat of more to come is still there..
I don´t think it has affected aviation in Galicia because during winter turism is very low, and most travellers are business travellers or holiday makers seeking better weather down south, but I suppose it may have some effects on the summer season schedule. We have 3 airports here in about 150 km, LCG, SCQ and VGO, mainly connecting to MAD and BCN hubs and with just a few international flights to LHR, CDG, ZHR and GVA. Plus a great deal of charter flights for holiday makers
