Tonight's BA002 JFK-LHR Concorde has been diverted to LGW - it landed at 2108. Anyone know why? The weather doesn't seem too bad this evening.

Probably not another mechanical problem. Wait till the media get hold of this if it is though.

Anyone can fly, only the best Soar.

Heathrow is a bit of a mess ATC wise this evening so she went to Gatwick.

Apparently an A330 went off the taxiway to the grass while holding for 09R so depts had to move to 09L with all the arrival delays that entailed while they tried to remove the Air Canada A330 (thanks to Donder10 for the LHR info)

Normally she will hop back and arrive into LHR just before 23:00 when the ATC delays will have cleared

Believe there was a "security alert" around 8pm which led to a ban on LHR arrivals, causing a knock-on effect for delays, therefore, BA 002 must have elected to divert to LGW when it was in danger of starting to use the fuel reserves rather than cause panic by declaring some kind of fuel emergency and gaining a priority arrival at LHR.

She arrived LHR about 15 minutes ago, according to BAA's website Speedbird 224 was also diverted.

LHR is currently still spewing out baby buses and 737's etc from 09R, by now all that is usually left to depart is maybe the odd 744 for Asia. Obviously still a few delays to clear.

Glad G-BOAD got back to LHR, but we should be OK for the BGI front-runner and a standby today if it had not and had to stay overnight at LGW.
