What do you guys think of the B757-300? To me it looks like a total flop. The first a/c is already flying and it only has 17 orders (from Icelandair, Condor, Arkia), and not one has been ordered in a while.

Give it a little time. It was built for some of the longer routes in the pacific and of course the airlines in that part of the world aren't ordering that many planes. You have to remember to that the 737 had pretty lousy sales for the first couple of years it was around. But look at how many they have built since then.

We have been talking about Boeing / Airbus competition in this forum (it's always a good discussion).
But look inside Boeing and think about the competition between Boeing planes. I think there are too many Boeing planes almost with the same range or seats available.
Boeing is spreading into a big confusion of different models and this can be dangerous.

The 757-300 I think will be bought buy US airlines in the later part of 2000.

Another thing, the only one that I can think of that is competing is the MD-11 and 777. What other once can you think of competing aganist in Boeing's fleet?

P.S. They sould just keep the MD-11F in the production line IF THEY continue to keep teh deadline to close the MD-11 line.

The 757300 also LOOKS like a flop. It reminds me of a 2 engine DC-8-71.

I though "flop" was the noise made by an AIRBUS when it hits the ground...HA HA.:)

That explains that noise! hehe I think
this plane is like the A321. Boeing
I guess was approached by many airlines
for a plane like the 757300 so we will see.
I know Boeing wouldn't just make a plane for
10 or so orders. I don't think some of you
realize how much it cost just to come up
with the design of the aircraft let alone build
it. Boeing is not stupid even though they
leave tools in rudders!

The A321 competes against the 757-200, no way near like the 757-300

The 757-300 is made basically for charter airlines and the likes. It has almost the same amount of pax as early 767s did. I am sure that orders will begin to come in when the cycle starts back up again. The 757 is a great aircraft.
