The bad news is that I got run off the 'pull off' area on Perimeter Road on the south side of the field, which I (and typically a large crowd) consider to be THE best place to spot at MIA. It's just about abeam the touchdown point, really nice.
And there's been a bunch of rail cars over by El Dorado serious impairing the view.
The 94th Aero Squadron is still available, but I don't consider it to be nearly as nice, as it is farther away from the action.
Only upside today is that, while I was there, I did see a Martinair MD-11F and a Delta 727.

I think that the best place to spot in Miami is to get a job with one of the many contractors which are currently converting my favorite airport into a huge mess. What are they doing there? They used to have a nice view from the terminal too but it seems to be all gone...

the thing is: 3 or 4 cops drove right past me on the inner perimeter roda and didn't care at all! Finally some Miami-Dade county official was sent after me...no gun...no cop...just a women security guard type...strange..
