hey, is it possible to get a last minute flight at the airport for a reasonable price?
A mate of mine's sister has had an accident in america and he urgently needs to get there (from the uk), what are the chances of him getting a ticket out of london this evening for ORD? He must fly to ORD.
What are the procedures of getting a ticket on standby or buying a ticket at the airport prior to departure?
Any info would be greatly appreciated.
P.S. he is also considering booking within the next few days if he cant fly today (on the dates 24-26 dec outbound, and 1-4 Jan inbound) can anyone find me a reasonable deal, it would be greatly appreciated.
He is on a tight budget as christmas has taken its toll on his wallet.
regards
Amo

Air New Zealand are pretty good with compassionate fares - give them a call - they fly LHR-LAX and may be able to sell you a through fare to Chicago. They only have one flight a day though, so may be booked up!

Hey, I hope your mate's sister is okay, our thoughts are with her.
Normally last minute flights are extrememly expensive, but if you fly on Christmas day, then you should be able to get some good deals, since normally it's a very slow travel day.
If you know of any consolidators, give them a ring too, I'm sure they might have some last-minute inventory they would love to get rid of.
You can also try Hotwire or Priceline, they have fantastic deals for last minute tickets, but I don't know if they sell to U.K. residents.
