JFK is doing fine. It's one of the top 15 busiest airports in the world. Has 8 open terminals with a new billion dollar terminal set to open in the next few years for American Airlines. JetBlue continues to expand. Airtrain elevated transportation system is nearly complete, and Terminal 4 is one of the most beautiful airport terminals in the entire world.

Hmm.....JFK has actually lost a lot of traffic since 09/11 as flight schedules have been pulled back. Some important routes, like the short lived JFK-HKG flight operated by UA, as well as UA's Latin America routes from JFK are no longer operating. Construction on new terminals is slowing (the AA terminal project is still going, but it is being slowed, according to reports in the local news and newspapers). JetBlue is the only shining star there right now, and the only symbol of growth at JFK. AirTrain is on track, but a worker was killed this year as a result of a construction accident related to it. Terminal 4 is nice, as is Terminal One, but Newark surpassed JFK long ago as the busiest airport in the region. Delta has probably postponed remodeling its terminals.

JFK traditionally was busiest in afternoons and evenings, as trans-Atlantic flights arrived and departed, with mornings much quieter. That's still true to some extent, but JetBlue's growth has lead to more flights at different times of the day.
