When I took of at EWR (Newark) last Saturday (Dec. 28 2002) I saw a Virgin A 340. It was dark and wasn't sure, but I thought it was a 340-600. Is this possible?

Yah.. it was an A340-600. G-VMEG on VS001/002 that day. With the delivery of their 4th -600, I guess they have an extra to throw on routes other than LHR-NRT and LHR-HKG.

Yes that's right. Since the 4th -600 (G-VFOX) arrived they are now daily on the VS1/2 LHR-EWR-LHR service in addition to NRT and HKG flights.

Shanghai and Jo'burg are due to get -600's from the end of March.

A friend of mine booked a flight to EWR and told me her ticket showed A346 as aircraft type. I was sceptic, but delighted. When I tracked the flight (VS001 on Dec 21st) it showed up as A343 (so I was slightly disappointed for her). So, can anyone tell me, on flight tracker, do the A346s show up as 343s or as 346s? And better yet, can anyone confirm what aircraft operated VS001 on December 21st? I'm kinda curious whether my advising her to fly Virgin landed her in their newest aircraft with the best IFE, or in an older one with the Arcadia system (which would be rather disappointing!)...

Cheers for any help / info

Ikarus

It was G-VSEA a 343,Ikarus even though all 4 346s were operating that day.

Pity.... Perhaps she'll be more lucky on the return...

Thanks donder10 for the info. Where do you actually find these things? Is there some website out there listing all the regs of all the flights at Heathrow or something?

G-VSEA has the Odyssey system which is a lot better than the Arcadia system (although not as good as V:port!) If your friend is booked on VS002 for her return then she should be lucky as this service is planned to operate on -600's until further notice.

Cheers

Darn. Missed it by a few hours on Saturday. And of course CO downgraded CO40 from a 777 to a 767-200 (I already had a 762 in my book, but no 777). I would have liked to seen that bird.

Airchabum: Ah, Odyssey, that's OK then. Not spectacular but still world class... Thanks
