Went to MAN today but the new runway was closed, up until I was there anyway. Anyone know why it was closed and how long for? Seem to remember it being closed at a similar stage last year, think that was because of maintanence.

Also, does anyone know the reg of the AA 767 today, I can't see it off my pics!

Closed over the christmas period due to the reduction in traffic...

From: http://www.manchesterairport.co.uk/content.nsf/NewsLookUp/7ED8813B7034F47B80256C8A00344FDC!OpenDocument

"The seasonal reduction in the number of flights means that we can manage with just one runway and our second runway will therefore be closed for 17 days. We are confident that the closure of Runway 2 will not result in any delays to passengers using Manchester Airport during the holiday period..."

"...Aircraft will stop using Runway 2 from 9.00 pm on Friday 20th December and flights will resume at 6.00 am on Monday 6th January. During this time some minor repair and maintenance work will be carried out. There may also be an environmental benefit as no anti-icing measures will have to be taken on the runway should there be a cold spell over this period."
